This is a very scarce 1941 Colt manufactured 1911A1- even more rare because of the Swartz safety. This pistol is as rare as the 500 1911A1 Singers. This is one of 500 “off the shelf” Colt manufactured commercial pistols that were simply engraved for the Argentine Navy under contract with the Argentine Navy in 1941. The 500 Colt commercial pistols picked for this contract were taken from the Colt lot between serial numbers C198700 to C208700 range. You will not find this Colt referenced in the Blue Book or any of the Colt books i.e. Clawson or Harrison. With only 500 of these pistols originally in the contract in 1941, they are a rarity today particularly, as this one, in original finish. Many of these 1941 contract pistols were subsequently parkerized leaving substantially less in original commercial finish. This commercial finish pistol is exactly like any other commercial Colt Government Model from the period with two exceptions: the Argentine National crest is roll-marked across the top of the slide and the right side of the slide is pantograph engraved "
